One of my favorite things about work is potluck day. I enjoy it because then it gives me a reason to find something to make and try something new. Well by the title this recipe definitely isn't new or something I haven't tried before but I still wanted to share.
I remember growing up, my grandma would make this for most holidays and it would be gone within the first food go around. It was definitely a favorite. Luckily I most everything I needed anyways on hand due to Easter.
Going back to the work potluck, the main reason I decided to bring this yummy dish is because we decided to have a salad bar potluck. Each person brings an item that you would find on a salad bar. I know this dish probably wouldn't be seen on a salad bar, but it has the word salad in the title and it's jello. Who can't go wrong there.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to grab a completed picture. I didn't even bring home any leftovers.
3 cups crushed pretzels
1 cup melted butter
3 heaping tbsp brown sugar
1 8oz block cream cheese,softened
1 8 oz tub whipped topping
1 cup white sugar
1 regular box strawberry jello
2 cups diced strawberries
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Using a food processor, crush the pretzels until very fine. Mix with melted butter and brown sugar. Press the mixtures into a greased 9x13 pan. Bake crust for about 18 minutes.
Meanwhile boil water for jello and make according to box. Set aside to cool.
Cream together cream cheese and sugar. Once smooth, add in whipped topping.
Once the crust has cooled, spread cream cheese mixture on top of the crust and be sure to spread evenly. Especially around the edges so the jello doesn't sneak in.
Cool again for about 15 minutes in the refrigerator.
Once the jello has cooled, add the strawberries and let sit for another 10 minutes.
Carefully pour jello on top of cream cheese mixture.
Place back into refrigerator until set.
Serve and enjoy!!
